Joanne Houston Blankenship, of Jackson, GA, was called Home Sunday, October 16, 2011. She was born May 13, 1941 in Marietta, GA to the late Leo Raymond and Mary Elizabeth Rich Houston. She was a member of Calvary Church of God in Westminster, SC, and attended Jackson Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed traveling, her church, socializing, but more than anything, spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren. Joanne is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jimmy G. Blankenship, of Jackson; 2 daughters and son-in-law, Starr Blankenship Townsend, of Jackson, Tammy and Robert King, of Westminster, SC; son, Jimmy G. Blankenship, Jr., of Walhalla, SC; 7 grandchildren, Josh, Jimmy III, Megan, Briana, Abigail, Karisa, Jace; one great-granddaughter on the way; 3 sisters and 2 brothers-in-law, Joyce and Richard Datz, Janice Dilbeck, Gloria and Charles Edwards; brother, Jack Houston, all of Marietta; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jimmie Lou Kelso, and brother, James Houston. Funeral services for Mrs. Joanne Blankenship will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 19, 2011 in the Chapel of Sherrell Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Cook officiating. Interment will be at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 - 9:00 PM Tuesday evening.
