Willie Avery (W.A.) Cook, age 86, of Jackson, GA passed away Friday, February 22, 2013 at Autumn Village. He was born June 23, 1926 in Jackson to the late Ernest Willie Cook and the late Hattie Lane Reeves Cook. W.A. was a businessman in the Jackson area for many years. Some of his endeavors included selling insurance, real estate, men’s clothing and toys. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson. W.A. loved spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Priscilla Weaver and Rosemary Harper; sons, Rankin and Robert Cook; grandson, Isaac Harper; 2 great-grandsons, Holden Smith and Noah Smith. W.A. is survived by his wife of 68 years, Virginia Rawls Cook; daughter and son-in-law, Avery and Albert Smith; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Lou Ann Cook, all of Jackson; 6 grandchildren, Al, Andy, and Adam Smith, Brian Gibson, Stephen Cook, and Kayla Merritt; 12 great-grandchildren; a large number of cousins. Funeral services for Willie Avery (W.A.) Cook will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, February 25, 2013 at the First Baptist Church with Rudy Mangham officiating. Interment will follow in the Jackson City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 Sunday evening. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Shoes for God’s Children, P.O. Box 615, Jackson, GA 30233.
