Obituary of James Vaughn Richards
Mr. James Vaughn “Jim” Richards, age 63, of Jackson, GA passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Wellstar Sylvan Grove Hospital in Jackson. He was born on Monday, April 19, 1954 in Atlanta, GA to the late William Cleveland Richards and the late Martha Faye Walker Richards Hughes. Jim was of the Methodist Faith. He proudly served in the United States Air Force as a weapons instructor. Jim was also very active in the Masons, having been a past Worshipful Master, member of St. John’s Masonic Lodge #45, and Ancient York Masonic Lodge in Worthville. He enjoyed wood working and spending time with his grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by son, Jeffery Vaughn Richards; sister, Angie Belinda Freeman.
Jim is survived by his wife of 44 years, Martha Charlene Moore Richards; daughter and son-in-law, Darla and Marshall Williams; grandchildren, Callie Williams and Marshall James Williams; sister and brother-in-law, Susan Faye and Dean Adams; brothers and sisters-in-law, William “Spud” and Beverly Richards, Calvin and Christy Plummer, Josh and Bernilla Plummer; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Mr. Jim Richards will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 3, 2017 in the Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Mr. Ralph B. Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening. Please omit flowers, and consider making a donation to the Masonic Home of Georgia, 1417 Nottingham Drive, Macon, GA 31211 in memory of Jim Richards.
