Mr. Gerald Kenneth “Jerry” Tompkins, lovingly known as “Paw Paw”, age 82, of Jackson, Georgia, formerly of Windham, New York passed away Friday, September 10, 2021.
Jerry was born on Wednesday, January 18, 1939, in Catskill, New York to the late Paul Tompkins Sr. and the late Gertrude Spaulding Tompkins. Along with his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his first wife of 16 years, Jewel Conner Tompkins and second wife, Patricia Ann Egbert Tompkins, and granddaughter, Zoe Jayde Flick. Jerry served in the United States Army. He was formerly a fireman and worked as a truck driver with Old Dominion Freight Line. Jerry loved to be outside and enjoyed riding horses, hunting, and fishing.
Jerry is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Bruce Flick; son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Lori Tompkins; grandchildren, Stephen, Ryan, Tyler, and Justin; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Terry, Glenda Montana, Jo Tompkins; brother, Junie Tompkins, Gary Tompkins; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Mr. Jerry Tompkins will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, September 27, 2021, at Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Reverend Dean Gross officiating. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
