Obituary of Alice Mae McWaters
Mrs. Alice Mae Phillips McWaters, age 96, of Jackson, Georgia, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2022.
Alice was born on Friday, March 19, 1926, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Ira Clinton Phillips and the late Perry Elizabeth Cook. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her six children, Alice Maxine McWaters, James Thomas Cook, Patricia Ann Nichelson, Virgina Louise Holton, Brenda Dale Lane, Jeff Michael Cook; her three late husbands, Henry Milton Gardener, John Thomas Cook, Cecil Trellis McWaters, as well as three grandchildren. Alice loved Jesus with all her heart. Alice enjoyed gardening, fishing, sewing, singing, and bowling. She loved spending time with her family whom she loved very much.
Alice is survived by her 17 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; sister, Mildred Franklin; as well as several extended family members.
A funeral service for Mrs. Alice McWaters will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. in Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Pastor Kenny Heath officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Eastlawn Cemetery in McDonough.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or PKD Foundation P.O. Box 871847 Kansas City, MO 64187 in honor of Alice.
