Obituary of Horace Eugene Sellers
Dr. Horace Eugene “Gene” Sellers, Sr., age 86, of Forsyth, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at his home.
Dr. Gene was born on Saturday, October 10, 1936, in Tattlersville, AL to the late Nathan Thomas Sellers and the late Ruby Dean Motes Sellers. Along with his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shelby Jean Carter Sellers; son, “Pete” Horace Eugene Sellers, Jr., granddaughter, Crystal Sellers; brother, Nathan Ray Sellers; sister, Bonnie Helton. Dr. Gene was a longtime pastor and helped with the food ministry. He was also a grocery store manager and worked Saturdays and Sundays as a DJ for WJGA. Some of his favorite things were trains and wind-up clocks.
Dr. Gene is survived by his children and spouse, Deborah Jones, Vickie and James Holley, Cathy Leary; 12 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Joe Sellers, Woody Sellers, Elmer Sellers, Johnny Sellers; sister, Betty Dobbs, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service for Dr. Gene Sellers will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Reverend Bob Hooks officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to County Line Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 430 County Line Road, Jenkinsburg, GA 30234.
