JoAnne Oxenford, of Jackson, GA, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at her residence. She was born on September 26, 1933 in Jackson, to the late James Horace Stewart and Sara Biles Stewart. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, a member of the Mary Lee Jones Sunday School Class, a member of and trip planner for the Double Nickle Club. JoAnne graduated from West Georgia College, and enjoyed traveling, gardening, crafts, her trip to Israel, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 56yrs, Daniel G. Oxenford, Sr., 2 brothers, Charlie Stewart and Lee Stewart.
JoAnne is survived by her children; Kay and Kenny Batchelor of Jackson, Daniel Jr. and Carol Oxenford of Griffin, John and Lynn Oxenford of Griffin, Glenn Oxenford of Jackson; 7 grandchildren, JJ and Kimberly Miller, Emanda Stodghill, Sean and Amanda Miller, Jake Batchelor, Chuck and Mary Beth Oxenford, Paul and Aprille Oxenford, Casey and Keenda Batchelor; 7 great-grandchildren; Zachary and Alexa Miller, Kylan Miller, Charlie Oxenford, Cheyanne and Cierra Cleveland, Jeremiah, Andrew, and Aniya Batchelor; sisters and brothers; Betty and Wimp Collier, Horace Stewart, Buck and Joan Stewart, Ricky and Beverly Stewart, Elaine Ledford, sisters-in-law; Martha Stewart and Juanita Stewart, several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Macedonia Baptist Church with Mr. Rudy Mangham and Grandson, Rev. Sean Miller officiating. Interment will be at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM Friday, July 26, 2013 evening. Flowers or donations to the “Double Nickel Club” Macedonia Baptist Church, 151 Macedonia Church Rd, Jackson, GA 30233 will be accepted.
