Obituary of Margaret Stephens Barnes
Mrs. Margaret Stephens Barnes, age 80, of Jackson, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023.
Margaret was born on Sunday, August 9, 1942, in Griffin, Georgia to the late James Stephens, Sr. and the late Bernice Vaughn Stephens. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, William Herbert Barnes and her brother, James D. Stephens, Jr. Margaret enjoyed dancing, sewing, crocheting, flowers, hummingbirds and most importantly, loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Margaret is survived by her children and their spouses, Penny and Danny Patterson, David and Karon Barnes; Grandchildren and their spouses, Danielle and Destin Smith, Alex and Stacey Patterson, Adam and Michelle Barnes, Lauren and Will Stanford, 11 Great-Grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral service for Mrs. Margaret Barnes will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at the Sherrell Memorial Chapel at 11:00 A.M. with Mr. Rudy Mangham and Pastor Chad Gordon officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Monday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Towaliga Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Brightmoor Hospice and Brightmoor Nursing Center for the care they showed Mrs. Barnes during her stay.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be given to Brightmoor Hospice Center in Griffin, Ga. in honor of Mrs. Barnes.
