Hilda Virginia Cook, age 87, of Jackson, GA passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Autumn Village. She was born August 23, 1926 in Jackson to the late Wilson Rawls and the late Lillian Knight Rawls. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson. Virginia loved spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, W.A. Cook, who passed away February 22, 2013; 2 daughters, Priscilla Weaver and Rosemary Harper; sons, Rankin and Robert Cook; grandson, Isaac Harper; 2 great-grandsons, Holden Smith and Noah Smith.
Virginia is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Avery and Albert Smith; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Lou Ann Cook, all of Jackson; 6 grandchildren, Al, Andy, and Adam Smith, Brian Gibson, Stephen Cook, and Kayla Merritt; 12 great-grandchildren; a large number of cousins.
Funeral services for Virginia Cook will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 14, 2013 at the First Baptist Church with Mark Cook and Dr. Ed Hoard officiating. Interment will follow in the Jackson City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 Friday evening. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Shoes for God’s Children, P.O. Box 615, Jackson, GA 30233 or Homestead Hospice, 791 Covington St., Jackson, GA 30233.
