Obituary of Jean K Whitaker
Mrs. Jean K. Whitaker, age 86, of Jackson, Georgia, passed away Monday, June 17, 2024, at WellStar Sylvan Grove Hospital.
Jean was born Sunday, May 8, 1938, in Jackson, Georgia to the late B.T. Kitchens Sr. and the late Sarah Frances Baxter. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Bobby W. Whitaker; sister, Margaret Kitchens Johnson Miller; brother, Bert Tammany Kitchens Jr. She was a member of First Baptist Church and attended Rock Springs Church. Jean was active for 15 years in the Piedmont Grandparents Club. She loved to cook and especially spending time with her family.
Jean is survived by her children and spouses, Allen and Sallie Whitaker, David and Tami Whitaker, LaNae and Tommy Boyd, Lisa Whitaker and Perry Thompson; grandchildren, Stephanie Brown, Josh Thompson, Wayne Whitaker, Brittany Moore, Jeremy Thompson, Drew Whitaker, Barrett Whitaker, Carla Martin, Bailyn Berg, Christin Knowles, Amanda Miller; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services for Mrs. Jean K Whitaker will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, June 21, 2024, in the Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Mr. Ralph Wilson, Mr. Rudy Mangham, and Dr. Benny Tate officiating. Interment will follow in Jackson City Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Thursday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home and anytime at 510 Joy Street, Jackson, Georgia 30233.
