Obituary of Harold Lee Adams
Harold Lee Adams, 97 years of age, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Brightmoor Nursing Center where he was a resident.
Born on Tuesday, May 3, 1927, to parents, Bertie Hunt Adams and Oscar Adams, Harold grew up and lived in White County, Cleveland, Georgia located in North Georgia where he met his wife and mother of his children, the late Ruby Lee Roberts Chastain. Entering the military in 1945, Harold served his country as a rifleman in the United States Marine Corps, and he received an honorable discharge.
Ruby and Harold owned a poultry farm where they raised four boys until moving to Atlanta where Harold found gainful employment until he retired from General Motors, Inc.
Harold and Ruby were very active supporters of the Church of God, where Harold served the Finance Committee and saw the creation of two beautiful church buildings during his tenure.
Harold believed in family and encouraged people to do their best by giving his support if he knew they were trying to help themselves. He and Ruby raised four devoted sons who loved their parents very much. Harold and Ruby were married for over 50 years until her death.
Surviving sisters and brothers are Ruenell, Ginny Sue, and Ray. Harold was predeceased by a sister, Avaleene and two brothers: Floyd ”Herman” and Ernest.
Harold leaves behind four sons: Thomas Gene (Brenda), Larry Dale (Teresa), Ronald Lee (Donna) and Richard Dean (Julie) who all reside in Georgia. Grown-up grandchildren: Ronald, Lisa, Myha, Diane, Craig, Trasie, Travis, Jake, Shaun, Derek, Amanda, Sarah, and Adam. Harold is pre-deceased by one grandson, Thomas (Tommy) Gene Adams, Jr. Harold was blessed with many great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Harold Adams will be held at 12 noon on Monday, June 24, 2024, in the Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Reverend Jeff Daws and Reverend Jeff Watkins officiating. Interment with Military Honors, will be at 2:30 P.M. at Sherwood Memorial Park in Jonesboro. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to service at Sherrell – Westbury Funeral Home, 212 East College St. Jackson, Ga.
