Obituary of Christine Statham Price
Mrs. Christine Statham Price, age 100 of Rochelle (formerly Atlanta and McDonough) passed away Saturday, September 28, 2024 in the Northside Villa. She was born in Wilcox County, GA, to the late John Edward Statham, Sr. and Mattie Parrish Statham. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Fred J. Price, her daughter, Beverly Ann Price and her siblings, Henry Albert Statham, Mattie Statham Crouch, Abbie Bell Statham Helms, Eva Statham Mixon, Franklin Statham, Lizzie Statham Keene, Della Statham Cohen, Odessa Statham Helms, John Edward Statham, Jr. and Oscar Lee Statham.
Her survivors include her children: Brenda (Chris) Mierkey of Warner Robins, Gail (Larry) Meadows of Arden, NC, Lin (Barry) Carter of Macon; grandchildren: Holly Smith, Jessica (Josh) McNair, Jeffrey Meadows, Allison (Chris) Carter-Angotti and Lee Ellen Carter; great-grandchildren: Dakota Smith, Logan Smith, Thomas (Ashley) McNair, Joseph McNair, Jonah Angotti and Adeline Angotti; a great-great-grandchild, Liam McNair; several nieces and nephews.
She grew up in the Cedar Creek Community, Wilcox County, and was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church. She graduated in 1941 from Rochelle High School and then moved to Atlanta to attend the Southern Business College. While in Atlanta, Christine joined and was an active member of Capitol View Baptist Church. After moving to McDonough in 1979, Christine joined and became an active member of the First Baptist Church, McDonough. She worked as a bookkeeper at Woodward Academy, College Park, GA, from 1966-1986.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the Cedar Creek Baptist Church, Hwy 233, Abbeville, GA. Visitation will be one hour before the service at 10:00 AM in the church. Pastor Richard Compton will officiate. Graveside Service to follow at 3:00 PM in the Locust Grove Cemetery, in Locust Grove, GA. Pastor Dan McKay will officiate the graveside service.
