Ernest Garfield “Ernie” May, Jr., age 64, of Jackson, GA, passed away Friday, March 14, 2014 at Southern Regional Medical Center. Mr. May was born on May 29, 1949 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Ernest Garfield May, Sr. and the late Willie Mae Goss May. Ernie was a proud Veteran of the United States Marine Corps, where he served during the Viet Nam War during the Tet Offensive. He was a retired truck driver with Fepco Containers. He enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs. Mr. May is survived by his children, Shannon Dixon of Farmington Hills, Michigan and Kristie May of Jackson; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Margaret Reagan, Betty White, Bonnie Adams and Patsy Sykes; brothers, Billy May, Raymond May, Ronald May and Curtis May; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Ernie May will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Rudy Mangham officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
