Obituary of Arthur Van Dusen

Arthur “Art” Ellsworth Van Dusen passed away Sunday, November 23 at the age of 81. Art, a long time resident of Jackson Georgia, was born in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin on November 20, 1933 and was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Ann Marie Brennan, his parents Violet (Brown) and Willard Van Dusen, Sr. and brother, Willard Van Dusen Jr.
Art is survived by his daughter Lani Van Dusen of Logan, Utah, daughter and son-in-law Cindy and Paul Hemmann of Jackson, and grandson Tyler, a senior at Emory University in Atlanta, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Art served in the Army during the Korean War (1954-1956) and after being honorably discharged became a police officer in Falls Church, Virginia and later in St. Petersburg, Florida. After retiring from police work, Art worked several other jobs including for Georgia Pacific and May and Carter Oil Company. Art was an ordained minister with the Kimball Baptist Association and was an interim preacher at Indian Springs Baptist Church, where he baptized several believers in the “Old Glory Hole.” He later attended First Baptist Church of Jackson. Art was a long-standing member, past commander, and current chaplain of American Legion Post 102.
A memorial service for Art will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 22, at Sherrell-Westbury Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors beginning one hour before the service.
