Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mrs. Mary Anne Sanders Adams, age 96, of Jackson, GA, formerly of Toccoa, GA, peacefully passed away Thursday, March 5, 2015.
She was the daughter of the late Irene and Oscar Sanders. She was born on Saturday, August 31, 1918 in Oconee County, SC, the eldest of 10 children. Mrs. Adams, affectionately known as Ms. Anne, was the widow of the late William Hoyt Adams. She was preceded in death by her step-father, Hiott Sanders; sisters, Willie Steele, Sarah Farnan, and Bobbie Tompkins; brothers, Ed, Jack, Richard and Baby Sanders.
Mrs. Adams was a member of The First Baptist Church of Buford and attended Towaliga Baptist Church after moving to Jackson in 1998. She taught Sunday School for over 34 years at Carnes Creek Baptist Church in Toccoa. In the early ‘70s, she was featured in The Christian Index for having read The Bible, King James Version, 50 times. To date, Mrs. Adams recorded her readings to be over 120 times. Her favorite hobby was photography. She loved recording every event with pictures and making sure all were perfectly placed in her albums that everyone always wanted to view when visiting her. Mrs. Adams enjoyed going to gospel singings and taught herself to play the piano; but her most special times were spent with family, giving the majority of her attention to the younger children. She dearly loved her granddaughter and great-granddaughters.
Mrs. Adams is survived by her children, Angela and Terry Waits and Yvonne Morgan of Jackson; granddaughter, Mitzi Morgan Schuelke; and great-granddaughters, Morgan and Maevyn Schuelke of St. Johns, FL. Other survivors include her sister, Lois Lother of Seneca, SC, sister and brother-in-law, Gwen and Bill Burnett of Greenville, SC; sister-in-law, Tommie Sanders of Tucker, GA; many nieces and nephews; and special caregivers, Sharon Banks, Lois Bradshaw, and Kristen Bradshaw.
