Obituary of Raymond Strickland

Mr. Raymond A. Strickland, age 97, of Jackson, GA, passed away Monday, July 13, 2015 at Spalding Regional Medical Center. He was born on Thursday, January 3, 1918 in Atlanta, GA to the late John Tolbert Strickland and the late Leila Pearl Gaines Strickland. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Moseley Strickland, and seven siblings. Mr. Strickland proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II and also served in the Air Force. He was of the Presbyterian faith. Mr. Strickland is survived by his children and their spouses, Regina Kidd, Angela Dixon, Marianne and Charlie Schuler, and Doug Magruder; grandchildren, Bryan Dixon, Brent Dixon, Lisa Lambert, Ginger Moats, Jason Kidd, Mike Groce, Keela Johnson, and Brent Groce; 14 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services for Mr. Raymond Strickland will be held Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Mr. Doug Magruder and Mr. Ralph Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday evening. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stark United Methodist Church Youth Program, 1097 Halls Bridge Road, Jackson, GA 30233.
