Mr. Dolphus Glenn Suggs, age 73, of Jackson, GA, passed away Friday, October 16, 2015 in Augusta, GA. Glenn was born on Friday, July 10, 1942 in Moultrie, GA to the late Dolphus D. Suggs and the late Nora Arvie Camp Suggs. He was a Georgia alumni and an avid Bulldog fan. Glenn was a loving father, grandfather, and husband. He enjoyed golf. Glenn loved sharing the Gospel, was treasurer of the Gideons, and a deacon of First Baptist Church of Jackson. Glenn was a big patriot and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired as Deputy Warden from the GDCC and was superintendent of Unicoi State Park. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Glenn Suggs in 1965.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Shellie Suggs of Jackson; son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Patrice Suggs of Hendersonville, NC; daughters, Deanna McClendon of Savannah, GA and Denise Suggs of Cleveland, GA; grandchildren, Lindsey and Clayton Maley of Savannah, Rachel Suggs of Asheville, NC, Zachary Suggs of Asheville, NC, and Caleb Howell of Cleveland, GA; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Glenn Suggs will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 18, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Jackson with Pastor Keith Joseph officiating. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. Grave side services will be held at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church Cemetery in Salisbury, NC at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 19, 2015. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to The Gideons International, P.O. Box 1192, Jackson, GA 30233 in memory of Glenn. Those who wish may sign the online guest registry at www.sherrell-westburyfh.com
