Mrs. Edna Mae Bowen Brownlee, age 94, of Flovilla, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Westbury Medical Care Home. Mrs. Brownlee was born on Saturday, October 1, 1921 in Roanoke, AL to the late William Henry Bowen and the late Sarah Katherine Akins Bowen. She sold Avon and enjoyed playing Bingo. Mrs. Brownlee also enjoyed sewing, making blankets and quilts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Brownlee; daughter-in-law, Frances Bowen; 3 brothers, Hoyt, Sylvester, and Aaron; sister, Birdie Wilson; and grandson, Pug Ivey.
Mrs. Brownlee is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Linvell and Faye Bowen, Ralph and Frances White; grandchildren, Lynette Smith, Wendell Bowen, Sherri Corbin, Jan Hamlin, Charles White, Gene White; 11 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Edna Brownlee will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2016 Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Reverend Leon Brownlee officiating. Interment will follow in the Jackson City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.
