I taught with Mrs. Owens during the mid 1980s to mid 1990s. I was just out of college when I met her. I cannot tell you how much she taught me. We both taught fourth grade during that time.
Several things stand out to me about her. One was that when she graded papers, she took the time to make handwritten notes on every student's paper to tell him/her how to improve their work. She was always so patient with every student.
I also remember that she was an excellent musician and always directed the musicals we had to put on for parents. She could play the piano beautifully and sing beautifully. We were so blessed to have her many talents in our school.
I have thought of Mrs. Owens so many times over the years. I am so thankful that she was so patient with such an inexperienced team member. That was just who she was, however. Always giving to others.

Ms. Inez was small in stature but a giant in life. She was always inspiring to her friends with her unending energy , enthusiasm and that beautiful caring smile and attitude.
I remember the first time I saw that beautiful portrait of her as a young lady on the wall of her home and asked her who’s that movie Star was on her wall…
She said “I have no idea who that is”and we both had a big laugh.
living across the cove from Miss Inez, we could always see her keeping fire burning…walking around, keeping the area tidy with her stylish black rubber boots.
All of our neighbors, and I will truly miss our sweet friend.

Mrs. Inez, I will always remember how much you helped me in my life during my time in Wheeler County. You also gave me the foundation to enjoy and strengthen my musical ability. One special memory is the day I sang and special at church and I could not finish because Daddy had mistakenly announced our moving right before that. The words of the song were, " Dear Lord, kind Lord gracious Lord I pray thou would look on all love gingerly today." I remember you telling me you sat there thinking, "No not now." I will always remember your love and care.

Inez was dad's neighbor, then she was mine. She loved my blackberry wine cake and I loved making them for her to enjoy
I came home from town one day and her car was parked at the turn onto my drive in the wrong lane. I put my stuff in the house and investigated. She was nowhere to be found and the keys were in the ignition. I turned the key and everything came on, no warning lights, I started it and drove it to her house and parked it. She had been to Deanna's to let the guys in that were delivering her medical oxygen to her house and stopped at the corner to dump her sour milk in the woods, she got back in and the car wouldn't start she left it for the repair man to pick up and walked home. She told me if she felt like visiting she would do that again knowing I would bring it to her, she was silly like that .
I hope her beloved kitty finds a wonderful home with someone close to Inez. He is so very sweet, I'm sure he will be lost without her

Inez, Deanna and I spent our Sundays at Deanna’s , eating pizza and cheering for the Atlanta Falcons. Times I will always treasure along with all the times we went to watch The Henry Played preform. We had a lot of good times. So glad I got to know Inez and enjoy her witt and love of life. She will be missed.
