Obituary of George Idus Hubbard, Jr.
Mr. George Idus Hubbard, Jr., age 73, of Locust Grove, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.
George “Idus” was born on Sunday, September 24, 1950, in Canton, Georgia to the late George “Bob” Idus Hubbard, Sr. and the late Mary Grace (Samples) Hubbard. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Apryll Josephine (Martin) Hubbard. George graduated from Walker High School in 1968. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and Naval Reserves and served during the Vietnam War. He was very proud to serve his country. George was a member of IBEW 613 where he earned his Electrical Certifications and worked as an Electrician for 40 years. This was a lifetime accomplishment he was proud of as well. George enjoyed being with family and friends and always had a story to share. He especially loved being Papaw George to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. George loved to fish, which took him on many deep-sea excursions or just a pond or lake around town. Little known to many, George had an ear for music whether it was playing the guitar or piano, and especially loved the Beach Boys.
George is survived by his daughters and their spouses, Dena and B.J. Maddox, Christy and Fredy Fernandes, Marie and George Rogers; grandchildren, Mackinze Quinton, Clayton Quinton, Summer and Kyle Embry, Nichole Hawthorne, Erika Fernandes, Ethan Fernandes, Ember Fernandes; caregiver and friend Louca Leveque and family; several more great-grandchildren, along with uncles, aunts, and cousins.
