Obituary of Bobby Jerrell Dawson
Mr. Bobby Jerrell Dawson, age 91, of Jackson, Georgia, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2024.
Bobby was born on Monday, August 8, 1932, in Thomaston, Georgia to the late James Ernest Dawson and the late Wilma Lucile Mauldin Dawson. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Ann Roberts Dawson; sisters, Elizabeth Smith, Rhunette Aydlotte; brothers, Ernest Dawson, Roy Dawson. Bobby served in the United States Air Force for 21 years and retired as Master Sergeant. He later worked for and retired from the City of Griffin. Bobby was a lifetime member of Macedonia Baptist Church. He enjoyed wood working, watching westerns, yard work and gardening, especially growing orchids.
Bobby is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Glen Rivers; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Lori Dawson; grandchildren, Stephanie and Kyle Parker, Michelle and Justin Schoenfeldt, Benjamin Dawson, Alexander and Caitlyn Dawson; great-grandchildren, Taylor Grace Schoenfeldt, Easton Schoenfeldt, Rivers Parker, Riley Ann Parker; sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Walter Slaton; several nieces and nephews; special thanks to his caregivers that he affectionately referred to as “his ladies”, Bobbie, Linda, Laura, Sandra, Emma, and Tammy.
A funeral service for Mr. Bobby Dawson will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Macedonia Baptist Church with Mr. Rudy Mangham officiating. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home and again on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service at the church.
