Obituary of Miss Reba Haygood

Rebecca Ellen “Miss Reba” Haygood, of Jackson, GA, went home to her God and her sons Thursday, May 29, 2014. She was born on March 2, 1928 in Cordele, GA to the late Reuel Hamilton and the late Ruth Thrash Hamilton. Miss Reba taught her first class in 1949. She was a first grade teacher until 1961 in Monroe County. Miss Reba had 4 Masters Degrees and taught in 4 counties. She taught children with learning disabilities in Jackson. All of her students loved her and told her so. When they were grown, they brought their babies for her to meet. She had a wonderful life.
Miss Reba is survived by her daughter, Ellen Haygood; son-in-law, David Wyatt; brother, Dr. Reuel Hamilton; sister, Dot H. Perkins; many nieces and nephews; and her chosen son, Willie Stewart.
Memorial services for Miss Reba Haygood will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the Jackson United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Those who wish may sign the online guest registry at www.sherrell-westburyfh.com.
